We offer holistic patient-centered care across the lifespan for people who are experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties. This includes assessment and intervention for speech, language, literacy, voice, stuttering and swallowing disorders.

The voice clinic operates every Saturday at King Street Psychology Clinic, Newtown, 2042.

City Speech Clinic

Assessment and intervention for children, adolescents and adults in Sydney. The Sydney City Speech Clinic is conveniently located on Macquarie Street in the C.B.D.

Should you require telemedicine (e.g. video-conference via Zoom), our clinicians are experienced providing evidence-based practice online. We use platforms such as doxy.me. This ensures a high quality and continuity of care using premium digital interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Master of Speech Pathology, University of Technology, Sydney.
  • Post-graduate Certificate in Cross-Cultural Studies and Applied Linguistics.
  • Bachelor of Health Science, University of Sydney, (Major – Hearing and Speech)
  • Bachelor of Music, Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Major -Voice)

Martin Charles Badway holds a Master of Speech Pathology from the University of Technology, Sydney. He is experienced working across the scope of practice and lifespan. He also specializes in voice disorders, including functional, neurological, organic pathology, and peri-operative care. He is a trained classical singer with an undergraduate degree in music from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. His musical background, vocal ability, and pedagogical knowledge provide him with the expertise to assist people with voice dysphoria to modify their pitch and resonance. 

Martin has worked in both private and public health settings. In 2024, he worked as a dysphagia clinician for New South Wales health at St. George Hospital, Kogarah, across the inpatient acute wards, including emergency, aged care and general medicine. 

Martin has worked with children, adolescents and adults who have multiple communication, mental health and medical diagnoses to achieve goals and improve wellbeing. He works closely with the patient’s support network, including family and funding agency, to provide inclusive management plans and ensure continuity of care.

At the City Speech Clinic, a multidisciplinary team is available. This includes laryngology, psychiatry, psychology, and allied health-colleagues (e.g. occupational therapy, dietetics).

Assessment, diagnoses and treatment in person at the Macquarie Street Clinic, online via Telehealth, or in the comfort of your home.

We provide mobile attendance at nursing homes to help older people manage swallowing and communication changes. Likewise, we visit schools and educational facilities to conduct language and literacy assessments.
